Hello, Everyone! I’d like for you to meet September’s “Woman Who Knows”, Aileen M. Rivera Pizarro. I’ve know Aileen since middle school. Since then, she’s gone on to do some great things that are worthy of being in the spotlight.
Here’s a little background on my friend Aileen:
- Graduated high school from Colegio San Juan Bosco, PR
- Received her certification in Administrative Assisting from John Dewey College
- Holds a Bachelors Degree in Advertising from the University of Sacred Heart in Puerto Rico
- Currently employed as an Associate Insurance Agent at Auffarth & Associates, LLC
- Licensed in Property & Casualty and Life & Health Insurance
On her free time, Aileen likes to do charity work by supporting two of her favorite charities. The first charity is The Tavon Mason Loves the Kids Foundation. Their mission is to motivate children to be active and healthy. They promote education and dare kids to be great! Every year, she looks forward to their Annual Character Slipper Drive, which began in 2012. This event is one of their many community initiatives. Please go to their website to see more of what they do in the community www.tavonmasonlovesthekids.org.
The other charity Aileen supports is Catherine’s Family and Youth Services. Their goal is to dispel the misconceptions surrounding inner city and underserved neighborhoods.
“From the outside looking in, people see discord and complacency. We see a community filled with future leaders, artists, educators, doctors, and people with an overall story to tell that could change the lives of others. Our community-based services intend to empower and enrich the lives of the residents living in Northwest Baltimore City with the courage to be who they want to be regardless of their circumstances.”
Aside from her day job and supporting her favorite Charities, Aileen is an entrepreneur providing translator services. Her business is called Spanglish where she provides Spanish-English interpreter and document translation services. She is listed as an official interpreter for the Motor Vehicle Administration (MVA) in the state of Maryland and an Approved Court Interpreter in the same state. Aileen is also a voting member of the American Translators Association (ATA).
“I’m Goal Driven”
My ultimate goal is to create a “one-stop shop ” where I can assist the Hispanic community in various ways and help bridge the language gap that has created a barrier between them and the people who need to interact with them.
There you have it, your September “Woman Who Knows…”! What incredible drive Aileen has to help her fellow Latinos and community as a whole. We need more people like her out there providing their time to those in need.
